About Us

Our Story

I founded From Seeds to Movements because I want my generation to know that we are capable of making change, and I think that understanding the past is one of the best ways to do so. I want people to see that making change doesn’t have to start as something big or intimidating. In fact, it almost never does. It starts as a seed—a small act of protest—that grows into something bigger, like a movement. I also believe US history is filled with important lessons and knowledge that can inspire us in our everyday lives.

Our mission is to share the stories of important movements in US history through short, factual documentaries designed for classroom use that align with the standards of the California 8th grade history curriculum. These documentaries provide a midpoint between the history taught in the classroom and the present, showing how the fight for Constitutional rights has never stopped. This allows students to be more engaged as they are aware of the relevance and importance of what they are learning.

We hope that in the future, other middle and high schoolers who are interested in history will contribute documentaries of their own, expanding this community of youth teaching youth.
